VICE-CHANCELLOR OF UUM IN A WORKING VISIT TO AUSTRALIA

UUM ONLINE:  Sydney - Universiti Utara Malaysia participated in a working visit to Australia to promote Malaysia’s mobility programmes from Malaysia.

The event was organized by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) in collaboration with Education Malaysia Australia (EMA).

One of the main objectives of the working visit is to tap the New Colombo Plan (NCP) mobility programme which a fund offered by the Australian government for Australian students to study overseas. The NCP mobility programme funds about 10,000 students every year to 40 countries including Malaysia.

The delegation led by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah will be visiting selected universities in Sydney in an effort to introduce Malaysia as a destination for mobility programmes and to explore other potential collaborations.

Upon arrival in Sydney, all delegates were welcomed by the Acting Consul, Madam Kartini Tajul Urus at the Consulate of Malaysia, Sydney.

Then a meeting with various government agencies were held to discuss strategies to increase collaboration between Malaysia and Australia particularly in education sector. Among the agencies that participated in the discussion were Director Tourism Malaysia, Sydney, Tuan Razali Tuan Omar; Director of MARA Australia, Mr Ahmad Zuriat Ahmad Tejuddin and CEO, EMGS, Mr Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin.

Seven public universities participated in the working visit, including Chairman of International Directors' Committee who is also representing Universiti Malaya (UM), Prof. Dr. Yong Zulina Zubairi and the Director of Center of International Affairs and Cooperations (CIAC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arpah Abu Bakar.
