UUM ONLINE: Prof. Dr. Wan Nordin Wan Hussin from Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB) was invited as one of the speakers at the AACSB Asia Pacific Annual Accreditation Conference held recently at the Singapore Management University.

The conference was a great opportunity to engage with business school leaders in the Asia Pacific region on how the AACSB 2020 Business Accreditation standards are making an impact and to discuss unique regional issues, trends and best practices focused on quality assurance.

Wan Nordin spoke on “Standard 8: Impact of Scholarship”, as to how business schools are engaging in the creation and dissemination of high-quality impactful knowledge that is aligned with the missions.

He shared UUM’s best practices with the delegates including aspects of innovations in the research and development ecosystem. He also highlighted several intellectual contributions from the university that have had a positive societal impact.

In addition, the conference provided an opportunity to reconnect face-to-face with one of UUM’s Peer Review Team members, Prof. Mike Ewing, Executive Dean from Deakin University.

In the conference, Prof. Mike shared blueprints on establishing global partnerships and alliances that can advance the school’s mission, as well as its impact on internationalisation.

The prestigious event which was hosted by AACSB International, also featured keynote addresses by Stephanie Bryant, Global Chief Accreditation Officer and Geoff Perry, Global Chief Membership Officer and Managing Director, Asia Pacific.

It was attended by more than 150 delegates from Business Schools in the Asia Pacific region that are in the initial stages of accreditation or getting ready for the next continuous improvement review. True to AACSB collegiate mind set, the conference equipped the delegates with an opportunity “to embody continuous improvement, to lift each other up, and help our business schools to shine”.

The Deputy Director of the Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faizuniah Pangil said that Wan Nordin’s invitation as a speaker is indeed invaluable recognition of UUM’s own arduous journey to the much sought after AACSB accreditation.

The networking that he was privileged to be a part of during the Conference will augur well for UUM’s own journey towards high standards and quality assurance in business education.

Prof. Wan is currently the Deputy Dean (Academic and International Affairs) at OYAGSB and was previously one of the Managers of UUM’s AACSB Accreditation Unit.
