UUM ONLINE: The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Prof. Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah received a courtesy call from the Academic Attache of the Libyan Embassy in Malaysia, led by Dr Aiman Elmahmodi at the Vice-Chancellor's Meeting Room, yesterday afternoon.
This visit was to review study opportunities at this university for postgraduate or master degrees for Libyans.
Prof. Dr Haim Hilman when met said, in the meeting, Dr Aiman also informed him about the scholarship offered by the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the country.
"In terms of principle, we agree to look at short-term study programmes and look ahead to provide all the needs that allow this joint venture to be realized," he said.
In the meantime, UUM expressed its desire to open an overseas learning centre in the country, which has a population density of six million. This idea was also welcomed by Dr Aiman Elmahmodi.
Through the external learning centre, UUM will definitely be able to provide services and expertise to the country that has economic strength.
Up until now, the number of UUM alumni from that country is approximately 700, and UUM is confident that through this meeting, the number of students will also increase.
Earlier in the meeting, Prof. Dr Haim Hilman also shared information about UUM being the second-best university in Malaysia and offered opportunities for student mobility and staff exchange programmes, especially training and staff development programmes, from Libya at UUM.
Also present were the advisor and the academic attaché of the Libyan Embassy in Malaysia, Mdm. Norhawaty Mansor, the Dean of the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML), Director of the Professional and Continuing Education Centre (PACE) and Director of the Centre of International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC).
