UUM AND APTISI SHARE STRATEGIES TO BECOME A WORLD-CLASS UNIVERSITY

UUM ONLINE: The recognition of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) on the global stage serves as a benchmark for the Association of Indonesian Private Universities (APTISI) in their pursuit of attaining world-class university status.

Hence, the three-day APTISI Executive Training Programme, organised by the Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), began on Wednesday.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, said that the Executive Training Programme is an initiative specially designed to provide the top management of private universities with training in developing a strategic plan to achieve the status of a world-class university.

According to him, this programme will serve as a catalyst for attaining global standards and rankings such as QS and Times Higher Education (THE).

"UUM aspires to take pride not only in its current status but also in sharing the knowledge, experience, and strategies that have propelled the university to its current level with APTISI.

"Therefore, we are ready to share the best strategy and approach with our associates at APTISI to enable them to achieve a similar or potentially superior position to that of UUM," he said at the Opening Ceremony of the Executive Training Programme of the Association of Indonesian Private Universities (APTISI)—'Towards 'a World Class University' at EDC UUM yesterday.

The Vice-Chancellor also shared an overview of UUM's achievements in different global ranking categories, including the QS World University Rankings and THE World University Rankings.

He said the achievements attained by this university are the outcome of the diligent efforts put forth by all UUM students. These achievements serve as a source of inspiration to persistently strive towards the objective of establishing a university of global prominence.

Prof. Dr Mohd Foad also expressed hope that the programme will serve as a platform for everyone to learn, collaborate and develop together, with the ultimate goal of elevating the reputation of their respective universities on the world stage.

Meanwhile, the President of APTISI, Dr. Ir H. M Budi Djatmiko, expressed that the executive training programme is designed with the objective of incorporating knowledge, experience and strategies offered by UUM in order to elevate APTISI into a world-class university.

"We will facilitate the process from the signing of the memorandum of understanding to the memorandum of agreement so that APTISI can acquire international accreditation like UUM.

"I hope the rectors in attendance can engage in dialogue with the deans at UUM in order to foster cooperation. Our utmost gratitude goes to UUM for its willingness to share its experience as a world-class university," he said.

Also present were the Director of CIAC, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arpah Abu Bakar and senior officers of UUM and APTISI.
