SINTOK – Universitas Buana Perjuangan (UBP) Karawang, West Java, Indonesia, has plans to send a group of 100 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students to Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in 2024.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr H. Puji Isyanto, the Vice-Rector for Cooperation, Innovation, and Scientific Publication, the recent recognition of UUM as the 95th best university in the world under the age of 50 by the Times Higher Education Young University Ranking 2023 holds great significance.

This achievement has positioned UUM as the top-ranked public university in Malaysia. As a result, it becomes a priority for lecturers to consider pursuing studies at UUM.

“During the meeting and briefing with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, my delegation and I were sufficiently influenced to expedite the delivery of our PhD candidates here,” he continued.

Meanwhile, during the meeting with the UBP delegation, Prof Dr Mohd Foad extended a warm welcome to them as well as to the prospective Bachelor, Master and PhD students visiting our campus.

He said that the university currently has a total of 900 students from Indonesia.

“With our age turning 40 years old on February 2024 and UBP turning 10 years old on 17 October 2024, it certainly makes this collaboration more historic,” he said.

Earlier, Dr Mohd Foad extended a warm welcome to the delegation on campus. He expressed hope that collaboration in the areas of academics, research, and student and faculty exchange would yield mutual benefits and advantages for both parties in the future. Also in attendance was the Dean of the School of Applied Psychology, Social Work and Policy (SAPSP), Assoc. Prof. Dr Md Zawawi Abu Bakar.
